Interlam Architectural Wall Panels
New! Antiqued
Antiqued finishes require multiple steps. First, the panels go through our sand and prime process using our standard lacquer primer. The surfaces of the carved MDF panels are then inspected and cleaned. A base coat is applied from multiple directions to achieve proper coverage on the surface. After the base coat has properly cured, the panels are inspected and cleaned again. The next steps include applying exclusively formulated chemicals prior to a buffing technique thus creating a weathered or “Antiqued” finish. After inspecting, a clear sealant is applied as a final stage to lock in this unique and beautiful finish. The sealant is then cured before final inspection and packing.

Metal
Metal finishes require multiple steps. First, the panels go through our sand and prime process using our standard lacquer primer. The surfaces of the carved MDF panels are then inspected and cleaned. The panels are then sanded and primed again with a specially formulated primer. Metal ore is mixed into a liquid form and applied to the panels. After the metal has properly cured, the metal surface is hand-buffed revealing an authentic true metal finish. As with any raw metal surface, natural oxidation starts immediately. The metal surface requires several coats of hard finish wax to slow this natural process down. Finger printing and discoloration can be caused by natural oils found on the hands. Rubber gloves are required during these processes and should be worn when unpacking, handling and installing panels with a metal finish. The final results give a stunning appearance of a carved metal panel. Please note the Rusty Steel is a transferable finish, any top coat applied (due to the PH value) will cause the rust to revert to its base Ore state. The oxidation process is a natural process and the color ranges and patterns are uncontrollable on the panel surfaces.

Oxy
Oxy finishes require multiple steps. The next steps include applying exclusively formulated chemicals prior to a buffing technique that exposes the base coat. After inspecting, a clear sealant is applied as a final stage to lock in this unique and beautiful finish. The sealant is then cured before final inspection and packing.
SilTex
SilTex finishes – Studio Silica Finishes – combine the beauty of a natural material with the contemporary patterns that Interlam has to offer. Our collection is comprised of 18 solid color surface aggregates that can be combined with polyurethane to create an array of brilliant colors and tones which absorb and reflect light. The result is a medium textured surface with depth and tactile appeal. Greater UV stability and chemical resistance make SilTex finishes perfectly suited for intense lighting situations.

Sanded and Primed
Sanded and Primed panels are available in either a lacquer or water based primer. Unless specified otherwise, all sanded and primed orders will be processed with a lacquer primer. Please check with the manufacturer of your paint to see which primer should be used. The sand and prime process consists of sealing the back side of the panels with a clear sealant and then hand sanding the entire surface of the carved MDF panel and applying a coat of the specified primer. The primed surface is sanded and another coat of primer is applied. After a light sanding the panels are inspected. Depending on core material, pattern and primer type, the panels may require an additional primer coat and sanding. Sanded and Primed panels will arrive ready for final painting saving you labor costs and time.

High-gloss Foil
High-gloss foil finishes can be chosen as an alternative to painted finishes. Various wood grains, patterns, and solid colors are available. This finish requires that the back side of the panels to be sealed with a clear sealant and then the carved surfaces are hand sanded. Upon cleaning and inspection, an adhesive is applied and let cured. The panels move on to our pressing operation which applies the specified foil color to the carved panel surface. All High-gloss Foil finishes have a clear protective coating that once removed, reveal a lustrous finished surface.

Sandblast
Sandblast finish is available on select cores and patterns. For acrylic cores, the panels go through a process that yields a uniform, frosted finish to the carve pattern. On other cores and select patterns, the sandblast operation produces an appealing coarse texture similar to natural erosion.
